Fuli Gemstones signs three-year deal to sponsor The Jewellery Cut Live

Peridot miner backs boutique London jewellery show as it kickstarts campaign to raise awareness of ‘the gem of the sun’

Fuli Gemstones has signed a three-year deal to sponsor The Jewellery Cut Live, a boutique two-day jewellery show that takes place twice a year during London Fashion Week.

The Jewellery Cut Live will return for its fifth season at the Royal Institution on London’s Albermarle Street in Mayfair on September 20th & 21st, 2020. Following on from its most recent event in February 2020, this will make it one of a very few global jewellery events not to cancel this year due to the pandemic. The two-day event will showcase the work of more than 20 independent jewellery designers, including Melanie Georgacopoulos, Marie Mas, The Rock Hound, Olivia & Pearl, Deborah Blyth, Libby Rak and Noor Shamma. The show is attended by a mix of store buyers, press, industry insiders and jewellery-loving consumers, who can shop directly from designers at the show.

This new sponsorship deal will see Fuli Gemstones become headline sponsor of the event, and as such The Jewellery Cut Live, founded by jewellery journalist Rachael Taylor and industry consultant Andrew Martyniuk in 2018, will now be co-branded with the gemstone miner. Fuli Gemstones, which owns the largest-known peridot mine in the world, will also use the event to showcase loose peridot gems and peridot jewels specially commissioned by emerging designers.

Fuli Gemstones chief marketing officer Pia Tonna said: “Fuli Gemstones is excited to be supporting, through its three-year sponsorship, London’s iconic jewellery showcase The Jewellery Cut Live. The founders Rachael and Andrew have a vision that Fuli and I equally share: to support emerging talent and to create a platform that represents some of the best in jewellery design. Fuli owns the world’s largest-known peridot deposit in the world and through this association, we not only aim to raise awareness of ‘the gem of the sun’ but we also want to shine a spotlight on the avant-garde.”

As part of the popular jewellery lecture series at The Jewellery Cut Live, Fuli Gemstones will orchestrate a talk on peridot that will educate guests about the properties of this green gemstone. Peridot, a gem loved by the Egyptians, Victorians and royalty throughout history, has long been revered as a symbol of wealth and is found deep within the earth’s mantle, or locked in lava or meteorites (meaning that some peridot comes from outer space).

The Jewellery Cut co-founder Rachael Taylor said: “We are so excited to have Fuli Gemstones on board to support our mission to raise awareness of contemporary independent designers, put fine jewellery in the spotlight at London Fashion Week, and generally get more people hooked on jewels. The Jewellery Cut has been a grassroots movement that Andrew and I have built independently, out of a passion to champion what we consider to be one of the most exciting areas of the jewellery industry by exposing hidden gems. Now, with support from Pia and her team, we look forward to growing and improving our online activities and live events, and we can’t wait to introduce our magpies to the magic of peridot.”

All are welcome to The Jewellery Cut Live. Entrance to the event is free and tickets must be booked in advance through Eventbrite. Tickets, and a full line-up of designers signed up so far, can be found here.
